Writing The West
Young Guns

We offer an experience with the West in music, poetry, and song.  We bring the best in local, regional, and national talent to the stage, airwaves, and on line with one thought in mind; to present historical and contemporary stories in entertaining and educational ways.

The youth of today do connect with the legacies of the West...when we do what we can to offer them the opportunity to show their talent to live audiences, broadcasting on radio, on a professional stage.  We host students from school in three states, ages 10-20, who remind us that the future of the West....is alive and well!  *Your Donation Helps Fund Student Participation Expenses ...While Supporting the Western Performing Arts!

Within the writings of the West are history, life lessons, and contemporary communications.  We offer a workshop for both adults andd young adults, where they can explore their 'inner cowboy'.  It is an amazing time with professional poets and authors, students, and educators.  *Your Donation Helps Fund Instructor Fees, Venue Rental, and Travel Expenses!  ...While Supporting the Western Performing Arts!

Each year during National Day of the Cowboy, a program is offered across the country; one that is geared to bring the cowboy experience to youth in a number of ways.  We offer area authors, reading their works in western fiction and historical accounts, re-enactors, historic tours, ranch demonstrations and more to kids who love a learning experience that is entertaining.

A United State Senate Resolution helped to insure that the 'words of the west', would be recognized nationally every year.  As such, the third week of April is designated as Cowboy Poetry Week.  It offers special programming, the Rural Library Project, the Art Spur Project, and a commemorative cowboy poetry album that showcases the Voices of the Working West.

A Helping Hand

When there is a community or social need, we roll up our sleeves to help in any way we can.  That's how we helped raise $450 toward the building fund for the new Dupree Community Hall, after a tornado devastated the community.  And we put our hands together to help raise $800 for crisis intervention services, where federal budget cuts are closing facilities and limiting services. The funds are used to assist families find a safe place, food, and shelter.
