History.

With our location in the heart of the Black Hills of South Dakota and Wyoming, there is no shortage of colorful leagcies and traditions.  From historic venues to exclusive exhibits, we create not just programs in music and song, but also tell the story with historians, re-enactors, memorabilia, authors, and artisans.

Western Performing Arts.

Since it's creation 14 years ago, the Heritage of the American West Performance Series continues to offer quality entertainment,  While preserving and presenting 'the music, poetry & song of the Great American Cowboy' remains its primary focus, the Series now brings more music influences to the stage - while weaving the story of the cowboy and the west throughout each performance, that is also broadcast on radio.                                                                   Email for more information

About us

It began as a way to share cowboy poetry and music with more people.  And grew into a nationally recognized showcase of some of the best talent from around the country.  It's fun, entertaining, informative.

It's the Heritage of the American West!

Education.

We present the authentic West.  Educational programs focus on youth but we encourage adults to take part as well.  And are delighted to see more and more do so.  Our Read 'em Cowboy Program presents regional western and historical authors.  In addition, hands on learning kits give participants an opportunity to learn braining, beadings, weaving, and more.  The Writing The West Workshop is open to kids and adults.  Developed to meet Common Core Standards in Language and Arts, it offers published cowboy and western poets presenting in interpretation, writing, and performing.                                                                       Email For More Information
